Charles Tashima Architecture
branding + website and print design + copywriting + art direction +social media strategy
Charles Tashima Architecture is a London-based architecture practice established in 1999. Over the years, it has developed a reputation for adapting existing materials, buildings and structures, creating authentic spaces with unique atmospheres. Charles commissioned us to create a new identity for the studio that could be applied to their internal documents, website and social media.
Our remit was to articulate the studio's ethos and design process and demonstrate visually how this process is applicable to both residential and commercial projects. Working with the art director, Kate Monument , we created a new brand identity that reflects the studio's approach to design: timeless, tactile and accepting of imperfection.
The redesign of the website was approached holistically. We undertook extensive research of the picture archive, editing existing project imagery and commissioning new photography that illustrates the studio’s singular approach to the built environment. We also oversaw the redesign of the studio’s architectural drawings, ensuring the presentation of their plans coalesced with the new aesthetic. Following in-depth discussion with the founder, we also rewrote the text for the website, articulating the studio's method and process, as well as detailing the challenges and design decisions of each individual project.
Finally, we devised a strategy for announcing the rebrand on social media, extracting key messages from the company text and identifying images that best represent their achievements and ambition as a studio.
